Our fine art Newborn and Baby sessions are focused on capturing those precious moments before your baby grows up.
Come in for a Get to Know You Session, where you meet your photographer and discuss what you visualize for your portraits before your portrait session. This gives you a chance to get to know your photographer and allows you to feel more at ease during the session. Taking the time to meet and develop a creative relationship is the key to creating a beautiful and unique portrait.
When do I book my baby’s session?
If you want to capture the magic of your newly born little one, it’s best to book within a week or two of when they were born. We want to capture the memories of your baby while they still sleep soundly, curl up easily and have that newborn look which is so fleeting.
After your first session with your newborn, it’s ideal to book your next session for about 4-6 months afterwards, as they change so quickly.
How do I schedule a Get to Know you Session?
Just call or email. The get to know you session is usually 20-30 minutes (in person or over the phone). We discuss all the details of your session; the location, the time and date, your vision for your portrait, what you will wear, etc. We also discuss where you will be displaying your portraits, as it plays an important role in how Keylight composes your portrait as well as the size of the final image.
What should my little one wear?
Photographing your little one nude is definitely the most adorable, so just be sure to bring along some extra diapers and baby wipes. Also, feel free to bring along anything you would like included in the portraits, such as a blanket, stuffie or your favorite baby outfit as well.
What should I wear?
Usually dark clothing is best. Preferably black long sleeved shirts for both you and daddy. Although, the focus of the session will be on your newborn baby, as they are so tiny and delicate. The sibling and family portraits are better left to your second session, where your little one has found their smile!
How long is the session?
With newborns, they sessions are usually 2.5-3 hours. Newborns need many breaks, and I am happy to wait until they are content, full, and sleepy.
Your second session, you won’t need to allot more than about 2 hours.
